Critics Choice Awards Images
Written by on January 20th, 2011

I have added images of Emily at the Critics Choice Movie Awards, from last week.

here is a small article i found about the event:

In a segment presented by Jimmy Kimmel and Emily Blunt, Damon was given the fourth annual Joel Siegel Award for Service to the Community. While Kimmel provided comic relief, joking that the Oscar winner is “the greatest guy in the world,” the actor received serious accolades for his charity, Water.org.

Blunt, who stars with Damon in the upcoming film “The Adjustment Bureau,” explained that the organization Damon co-founded with Gary White helps to “provide developing countries with safe drinking water and sanitation by partnering with local communities.”

As Blunt delivered the staggering statistics that less than 1 percent of the Earth’s water is drinkable and more than 1 billion people don’t have access to clean water, Kimmel continued to kid with Damon, telling him, “Sean Penn is actually in Haiti right now … carrying things!”

Emily the villain in ‘Iron Man 3′
Written by on September 6th, 2010

Hollywood studio bosses have come up with an ingenious solution to the on-set rivalry between actresses Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow – separating them.

I revealed how the pair clashed on the set of Iron Man 2 after Scarlett, 25, was drafted in to play the femme fatale Russian spy character Black Widow.

At 37, Gwyneth, who plays Iron Man’s feisty PA Pepper Potts, was not impressed when her younger rival received more attention in the publicity campaign and made her displeasure known to film bosses.

Now I hear producers are planning to give Scarlett her own role in a break-out movie and are also hoping to land British star Emily Blunt to play the villain in the next Iron Man instalment.

‘The plan is to cast Scarlett as the Black Widow in a spin-off film with Robert Downey Jnr called The Avengers,’ says a source.

‘They are desperate to have Emily as the villain in the next Iron Man film and will continue to have Gwyneth playing Pepper, though she won’t feature in The Avengers.’

Salmon Fishing…filming starts
Written by on August 19th, 2010

Commuters may have done a double take this morning as the cream of British acting talent shot scenes for a new film on the streets of London.

Kristin Scott Thomas, Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt were out and about filming romantic comedy Salmon Fishing In The Yemen.

The movie is an adaptation of Paul Torday’s novel, which tells the story of a government scientist called Dr Alfred Jones who is given the seemingly impossible task of introducing salmon into the Yemen wadis by a sheikh.

And given the political nature of the film, the cast were suitably attired in smart clothes to portray their parliamentarian characters.

Scott Thomas play Patricia Maxwell, the British Prime Minister’s spokesperson – an ever so slightly more glamorous version of spin doctors past and present, Alastair Campbell and Andy Coulson.

Her character decides the salmon introduction is the perfect news story for the area and puts Alfred in charge of the project’s success.

McGregor stars as Dr Jones while Emily Blunt plays the representative for the sheikh, who starts to fall for the scientist as they begin working together on the project.

The trio are in their second week of filming, and have previously shot scenes on Hampstead Heath and on the banks of the Thames, where McGregor was photographed showing off his fly fishing skills.

Salmon Fishing In The Yemen is due for release in 2012.

Emily joins campaign for U.K. Film Council
Written by on August 6th, 2010

LONDON — Emily Blunt, James McAvoy, Bill Nighy and Ian Holm are just some of the 50-plus actors who have put their names Thursday to a letter calling for the government to save the U.K. Film Council.

The open letter penned to The Daily Telegraph, the national newspaper long regarded as having Conservative views, condemns the Tory-led coalition government’s recent decision to axe the government-backed agency (HR 7/26).

Signatories also including Timothy Spall, Pete Postlethwaite and Sophie Okonedo added their names to the letter warning that the decision to pull the plug threatens to seriously damage the entire British film industry.

“Everyone, including those in the film industry, knows that times are tough. But the UKFC doesn’t waste money, it makes it,” the letter reads. “Thanks to its [UKFC] efforts, our film industry — worth £4.5 billion ($7.16 billion) a year — has rarely been stronger.”

‘Airbrushing makes you look like Barbie. Who the hell wants to look like that?’
Written by on July 31st, 2010

She said: ‘I don’t like it when they stretch you out and make you all long and skinny.

‘It makes you look like a Barbie. Who the hell looks like that?’

But while she might not have been elongated for this photo shoot, it’s clear that her complexion has had some touching up for the pictures for the September edition of the magazine, out on sale next Wednesday.

Emily recently married American actor John Krasinski, 30, one of the stars of the US version of The Office in an intimate ceremony in Italy.

The couple live in Los Angeles but Emily, who grew up in south west London, said even though she loves it there, she won’t forget her roots.

Emily graces the cover of the September edition of Elle magazine which is on sale on August 4

She added: ‘I feel very transatlantic. I shoot in England all the time, and I’m really close to my family and friends there.

‘I know that maybe there’s a perception that I’ve abandoned what’s true to me but I still maintain it and I never want to look like I’m disregarding where I came from.’

And she said she has no plans to go ‘all Hollywood’.

She said: ‘British people pretend to hate LA but they completely love it. I’m going back on Thursday and I’m so excited. I get to swim in a pool.’

And Emily also insisted that she won’t conform to the Hollywood ideal.

She said: ‘Don’t worry, I’m not on cleanses or doing Pilates every day. Not to stereotype Hollywood girls.’

Ill try and remember to go and buy ELLE or get the scans from somewhere.

Emily’s bachelorette party sparks wedding rumors
Written by on June 30th, 2010

Emily Blunt has sparked rumors her wedding day is imminent after she was seen enjoying a bachelorette party in Los Angeles on Monday night.

The British actress is engaged to “The Office” star John Krasinski and the couple has refused to divulge details on when they will exchange vows.

But the “Young Victoria” star has fueled speculation the big day is fast approaching after she hosted a pre-wedding party at L.A.’s exclusive Trousdale Lounge.

Blunt partied with a group of friends, including her “Sunshine Cleaning” co-star Amy Adams, sipping cocktails and dancing until the early hours, according to People.com.

The previous night, Blunt and her fiance dined with a group of friends at the city’s famous Chateau Marmont hotel.

Emily dishes about the proposal
Written by on October 4th, 2009

And so there we were, having a good laugh about her new sci-fi flick with Matt Damon—”I really would love to do a movie where I kick ass!” she cried—when I decided to ask for engagement advice based on her own personal experience.

“All I can say is that there were flutes playing in the background, butterflies, there were angels showering us with rainbow drops,” she deadpanned.

So that was how it was gonna be, huh? I didn’t even know there was such a thing as rainbow drops!

“Neither did I!” she laughed. “I found out when it happened.”

Luckily, I had another question I was hoping would a rise out of her. See, this season on “The Office,” J Kraz’s Jim Halpert is getting walking down the aisle with Jenna Fischer’s Pam Beesly. And whaddya know, John and Emily just so happen to get engaged shortly before the show kicks offs. I smell marketing ploy!

“Yes, it’s all a publicity stunt!” she faux-revealed. “John and I are only doing this to crunch numbers. No, oh my god! Can you imagine? You’re actually the first person to ask me about that, which must say so much about you!”

OK, OK, it’s for real. So have they set a date for the big day?

“We don’t know,” she confessed. “We actually aren’t sure yet. We’re being uselessly unplanned about this. But I promise you will be the first to know. You will know before my mother.”
